Commercial property owners and managers are always looking for smarter, better cleaning solutions, and there are none better than CLEANA.
Anybody looking to maintain a peak office condition every week or two to deep clean their warehouse, retail store, or other facilities should seriously consider hiring this cleaning company.
Many people may not be sure of exactly what is involved in the commercial cleaning process on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, but it is worthwhile knowing. It is always good to know what one is paying for and to be able to see why it is worth the money.
Standard Cleaning Procedures
Before looking into the general procedures used by professional commercial cleaning companies, it is important to remember that different areas require different attention.
A stock warehouse does not have the same requirements as a hospital, for example. Even within an office space, the break room needs a different type of cleaning than the bathroom.
The following procedures are the basic guidelines from which most office cleaning companies work in general.
Commercial Weekly Cleaning Procedures
Most commercial weekly cleaning procedures have seven steps:
Step One
Empty all the trash cans, clean the bin with disinfectant spray, and replace the bin liners. It is a good idea to have a janitorial cart that can carry all necessary cleaning supplies that also has space to carry the trash.
Step Two
Dust the high areas, for example on top of shelving, cabinets, and around the air ducts. Basically, anything that is above shoulder height.
Step Three
Wipe down all high-touch surfaces with a damp cloth. Warm water and a natural anti-bacterial should be used on door handles, light switches, desks, phones, and anywhere else where germs are likely to gather.
If the commercial property requires bathroom-based cleaning tasks, the toilets and sinks also come under this step. These require a special anti-bacterial solution and a separate wet cloth.
Step Four
Swap out and re-fill any items that need to be replaced. That may include paper towel dispensers, toilet paper, soaps, air fresheners, and hand towels. These days, making sure sanitizing gels and sprays are also stocked up and where they should be is also an essential part of step four.
Step Five
Dust and wipe the floor surfaces and lower walls. At this stage, it should be a dry dust mop taken across the floor and lower vertical surfaces.
Cleaning surfaces with a dry cloth to remove all the dirt before moving to a damp wipe makes effective disinfection and germ removal an easy task.
Afterwards, a cleaner should go over all the walls and low work surfaces with natural cleaning chemicals and a lightly damp cloth.
Step Six
The penultimate step is essentially the final check. A full inspection of the office to check for any missed spots, mistakes, or out-of-place items is a must before moving on to the last step.
The cleaner should be checking that all moving objects are returned to their rightful place, that no cleaning items are left behind, and that the office or other commercial space is at the standard it should be.
Additionally, any notable damage should be reported. It is not a commercial cleaner’s job to repair the damage, but they should record and report it.
Damage may include scuff marks on the floor, loose wiring around electrical sockets, staining that cannot be removed using standard cleaning gear, or broken fixtures of any kind.
Step Seven
Only once everything else is completed and double-checked does a commercial cleaner begin to wet mop floors and other necessary hard surfaces. In all daily cleaning procedures, mopping the floor is always the final step.
This task uses one or more mop buckets filled with warm soapy water and disinfectant chemicals. All areas should be mopped the same way, leaving a fresh smell around the office. It makes sense to do this last as it limits the time spent walking over it and gives the floor time to air dry.
A commercial cleaner needs to add a wet floor sign when they finish the office cleaning, along with any other safety precautions they deem necessary.
Are Monthly Cleaning Procedures Different?
Monthly cleaning procedures usually involve a more in-depth approach, although the same basic structure is followed. If an area has long periods between visits from a cleaner, it makes sense that it takes a bit more work.
Other than the regular cleaning tasks such as emptying garbage cans, mopping the hard surface floors, and removing any lingering dust, monthly tasks may also include deep-cleaning the office carpets, having to polish desks for a professional shine, or cleaning the insides of the filing cabinets.
Weekly cleaning focuses predominantly on the traffic pattern areas, but monthly clean aims to conquer every little detail.
Other Commercial Office Cleaning Procedures
Some commercial properties require a few extra steps using other cleaning gear. Corporate offices that often welcome VIP clients may require high-shine furniture polish in their lounges and executive offices.
Depending on what type of floor an office or other commercial property has, the owners may also ask for floor buffing. There are two main machines used to get that glossy finish on floors: a low-speed floor buffer (with spray buff cleaning material) and a high-speed burnisher. Both give a similar finish, but burnishers are more time and cost-effective in large-scale commercial property and office cleaning.
A vacuum cleaner is the ultimate trusty sidekick and the fastest way to maintain the daily cleaning of carpets and rugs. Soft floors may need a deep cleaning now and again, but vacuuming lightly each day or thoroughly once a week keeps things at bay.
Many modern offices have a lot of glass- something which is notoriously difficult to keep clean. Some companies may hire a glass cleaner separately, as not all cleaning companies offer this service. Specialty glass cleaning solution and equipment is a huge bonus to have as a commercial cleaner.
Each commercial property has its own unique features and may require any number of specialty gadgets. At CLEANA, the selection of services on offer is second-to-none.
Why Are Professional Cleaning Services Important?
A clean office not only looks and feels good, but it also helps to prevent the spreading of germs and bacteria. Most commercial properties do not have someone in-house who is willing to keep the place clean- at least not at a professional level.
Cleanliness and hygiene in the workplace are essential for the health and well-being of the staff and are the responsibility of the manager or owner. Without professional cleaning, a space can very quickly spiral out of control and become unsafe and unsanitary.
